hi apartments on new system principal here at 10th Street Elementary story about 10th Street it is the bicentennial here in Madison County and to celebrate we thought it would be interesting to tell our story built 1961 it was basically normal everyday Rowan Community I hope you enjoyed learning more about the history of Tenth Street Elementary people from the past the present in people that have actually Bridge the past and the present enjoy the history of Tenth Street Elementary person that we're going to introduce you to passion passion to all the students in faculty my name is Bob party they call me mr. Bob here at 10th Street I start working at this school in 2013 so I'm hit been here at this school for about 10 years but when I was younger I was here at this school student here in first grade this had this is kind of funny but I don't think the teachers really like the bed it rained the night before we came to school and we was running late and we don't want to be late so we try the backfield they used to and it rained and we got through it and farther we went in the deeper we start going into the ground teacher saw that out in the field and they came out and got us out mud and and I was saying and call the parents and have them bring some new clothes and then they said don't go through the field no more find me the original wall it's like a time capsule every day they don't even realize so all the boxes were here when the building was built in 1961 and I'm still here today Robert I started working for Anderson Community School 26 years ago I've been here at 10th Street for the past 15 I think the things that make memories here at 10th Street are the the family feel so not only just with the staff but with our family Through The Years you build relationships with those families because you've got multiple throughout the years in the in the same family so you started and through the years we've done some great activities whether it be literacy night Square you get to get hands-on experience with the kids with their pants their parents their families you got the food distributions where we get to help and again since we're the families that are coming in to partake in that service that we provide so really it's I think it just all revolves around the bond in the family so 10th Street has has stayed the same yet changed a lot in the 15 years that I've been here but different teachers come and go or the families come and go but the feel of 10 Siri is whenever I come in the morning I feel like I'm home I mean it's where I meant to be I look forward to coming here every day that I've always said I love my job and I don't think a lot of people get to see. I look forward to to coming in just because you through the years and being an older more experienced educator and you get to teachers come and grow from beginning teachers at through more experienced teachers you get to Mentor each other you got to they just get to no different personalities and different teaching styles and different families and the different situations that our families come from so I think even though we say education has changed a lot in the 30 years I've been doing this the feel of the building hasn't changed cafeteria market and scrap a lot of plastic surgery as well as office but if main focus is library in my any instructions instruction Public Library do not always but was also usually at the end of the high school that killed Harvey so and I'm in third grade teacher here I change do Chester eat in 2013 I don't know if there's just one memory but I love having students that are siblings of former students I have had families where I've had three or four of the kids and currently one of my favorites is in 5th grade and I have her brother last year and her sister during covid and I have so many pictures and letters from Olivia that are still on my desk and things that she gave me and I love getting hugs from her and her brother each day again was added on in the 1990 this gym is where all our students have their physical education and also after school club as well as some basketball team come in during the week in practice both working the building grew up here and have two sons that were Tenth Street Elementary students and now you're going to get my name is Phil King I started work here 12 years ago as the dean of students and I'm still in that role the experiences I've had is getting to know our families not just the students but also their parents and sometimes grandparents and I'm now having some second send students coming through that where I taught their parents at one point well about probably 5 years ago we did an addition to our cafeteria redid our hallways painted my mistress eyes keys at a lot of physical changes to the building as far as getting the eagle message out and putting our sore posters up for the last 2 years because we changed our Akron too sore for PBIS for the future of this building I see us moving forward and creating that positive family atmosphere for our students and families we've started with the All-Pro dads program that we do once a month we've also added a few discs Fusion that is once a month to help our families that could use those items and just continuing those things and maybe even adding more to help our families out my future in this building is hopefully within the next I don't know 6 to 10 years retiring from this building not saying I won't work any place else but retiring from my current position and then moving forward engine at one time now now my name is I'm here in the fall of 1979 to 1989 school year my favorite memory would probably be dead music program a lot of sales and a lot of family working together my favorite memory of the teacher probably having both of my boys my own son you're a student I will always treasure that time meaning in the building the changes I seen in the building 47 years is gone from the neighborhood School feel the more when I hear a lot of students bikes with pretty much in this vicinity and now I repeat I feel like the future its history is very very long we have so many positive things happening all of these families who want to be here and we're now in the North Center Tenth Street Elementary this is Mr saatchi's office in he is one of many principal do is occupy this year he is in his ear at the school and in just you'll get to meet him my name is D.J.'s to husky I'm the principal here at 10th Street Elementary School this is actually my 7th actually going into my eighth year as the principal here at 10th Street Elementary School the greatest experience that keep on it happens often but when they experiences that I see often that takes place to start a family environment how we as a community here it's history Elementary School we wrap our arms around our families and really focus on the quality of life why shouldn't we know that education is important but we also know how important it is to make sure our kids and our families to take care of this building has grown in a way which we believe that people have really trusted us with their students I think with the way things have changed education the one thing that I feel here at 10th Street that's really is growing is that trust for my family is that we're going to do the best for our students number 27 years now going to 8 years. I noticed that the ones who have been with us throughout the course of time has maintained that consistency to make sure the kiddos are taken care of it there safe will this building's future I see great things as we say and do what's best for a community one thing we are very intentional places doing what we can to make what's best for our kids as we know sometimes family life is really tough so what we try to do is bring the best year in our building to let our kids know that there's some really good stuff here that contains whatever they want and their lives to get the best if they want as you can see behind me we have new playground equipment this Edition was done this year and the students loved climbing and Hunger Games climbing equipment and play equipment just like new equipment there are some new additions to our building over the past several years just like myself who is new this year we have some staff members like mr. Kelly who you're going to 8 next that's new to our building hi my name is Greg Kelly my sexier my favorite memory deer at 10th Street I have no the kids they came in a little bit nervous last year with this lawyer I see myself in the future hopefully somewhere and add me I enjoy my time in the classroom but I will but we're very proud history and Street Elementary Michigan last year dial 10th Street Elementary at everything every other school do we have a problem and we don't regret them somebody built a part of the history
